This was my submission for sentimental in the So you think you’re Crafty competition. One of my friends wanted something to display his race bibs and medals. He had the idea of using a door knob as the medal hanger and I loved the idea. This was really easy to make.
I had this board in the garage that came off the bottom of this dresser. It was a really good thick piece of wood. I laid out how I wanted it to look. I was going to put 26.2, the marathon mileage, but decided against it. I cut the wood on the top by cutting off all of the writing. On the bottom I made sure to cut above the holes.
Stain your piece of wood whatever color you want. I chose red mahogany. I love this dark brown color and use it for pretty much anything that needs stained.
I used velcro on the board and the back of the picture frame so that it was easily removable. That way, if he has an awesome picture or wants a different quote he can just switch it out.
The door knob got a quick coat of black paint. It was oil rubbed bronze but with the stained piece of wood it was just to much brown.
Add some screws or clips to hold the race bibs in place.
I got D ring hooks to screw into the back for hanging.
And that’s all there is to it!
And here is the free printable that is in the picture frame…
Enjoy you runners 🙂
